Adventure J School

The P.I. Reed School of Journalism has partnered with the Adventure WV program to offer a unique orientation program designed for first-year direct admit journalism students. The program offers participants diverse experiences and opportunities to learn about themselves, future classmates, the School of Journalism, West Virginia University, and the state of West Virginia – while creating long-lasting connections with School of Journalism upperclassmen and faculty.

Participants will earn 3-credits upon successful completion of the program. In the fall semester following the program, participants will enroll in JRL 115, a special course for direct admit freshmen. In the class, students will learn more about University life and produce multimedia pieces reflecting their Adventure WV experience.

Our students will travel throughout the state to learn more about the problems and issues affecting our residents and to better understand the role that news organizations play in covering small communities. As aspiring journalists, our students need to learn about diversity and inclusiveness, and the Adventure J-School program provides a great start.

Program Dates: July 21-28, 2009

Cost: $395
