WVU's brand new state-of-the-art Challenge Course facility is the site for this 6-day adventure! Everyone is capable of accomplishments above and beyond day to day expectations. We realize that fears and challenges are often seen negatively and are sometimes avoided. Instead, we want to help participants use these elements and activities on and off our course as positive tools to build and foster growth as human beings.
Odyssey WV seeks to challenge the mental, physical, emotional, and social dimensions within our participants through properly sequenced games, initiatives, activities, and elements. Our purpose is to empower participants by teaching them effective ways to trust, to communicate, to make decisions, to act as leaders, to recognize their emotions, and to build self-confidence.
Odyssey WV seeks to facilitate the growth of group members as they learn to listen, respect, and care for themselves and others. We intend to challenge participants to solve problems as groups on the course, realizing that such solutions found in successful struggle, can become metaphors representing the challenges awaiting us in our own homes, schools, work places, and in our community.
Activities during this action-packed 6-day adventure include: Climbing our unique 50 ft Alpine Tower, multi-challenge high course, exciting 100 ft zip lines, day of canoeing, State Park travel day through some of WV’s most beautiful parks, and nightly campfires and tent camping. Odyssey WV will provide students with experiences which will teach them strategies to meet challenges in life while having loads of fun!
