Senior Trip Leader

The Senior Trip Leader Training Expedition takes place over the course of early May on an annual basis. This course is designed to offer students the opportunity to practice teaching and leading in dynamic outdoor environments while engaging with advanced theoretical and technical skills. Students will take an active role in the planning and development the course in order to learn fundamental aspects of expedition planning and logistics. Additional attention will be paid to advanced instructional techniques with participants teaching more advanced lessons. Continued use of peer feedback will ensure continued growth and development. Students will incorporate elements of practical leadership through an experiential structure. Topics covered will include collaboration, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, ethics and decision making, as well as route planning, menu planning, equipment needs, and advanced wilderness travel techniques

All students are welcome and encouraged to apply. Students with prior outdoor experience and/or those meeting the prerequisites will be given preference.
