The Trip Leader Training Expedition takes place over the course of spring break on an annual basis. This course is designed to offer students the opportunity to build upon fundamental leadership skills while developing and practicing new instructional and outdoor living skills. This program is designed to challenge students to push their skills and competencies into new realms using peer feedback as an instructional tool. Students will incorporate elements of practical leadership through an experiential structure. Topics covered will include expedition behavior, fundamentals of instructional design and delivery, as well as technical skills in navigation, outdoor group management, Leave No Trace, and backcountry cooking.

  • LEAD Assistant Trip Leader Training
  • RPTR 325
  • RPTR 326
  • RPTR 293F
  • Adventure WV Professional Staff Recommendation – (Contact John Greene)
All students are welcome and encouraged to apply. Students with prior outdoor experience and/or those meeting the prerequisites will be given preference, however, no student will be turned away due to lack of experience.
