Kevin comes to Adventure WV with nearly twenty years experience in the industry of outdoor education and experiential-based learning. He is passionate about leadership development and mentorship for the next generation of outdoor professionals. Kevin is originally from the mid-Atlantic region, but has been involved with outdoor education and leadership development programs all along the east coast and abroad.
Kevin holds a bachelor of science in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Resources Management with emphases in both Adventure-Based Learning and Sustainable Tourism Development along with a Master of Social Work from WVU’s Eberly College focused in integrated mental and behavioral healthcare. Kevin believes in the transformational power of adventure experiences in the wilderness and calls on this depth of training when facilitating people’s learning experiences in the outdoors.
One of his main professional goals is to support and positively enhance the climbing community throughout the University and surrounding region. Programs such as the ADV WV Kid’s Climbing Club, Advising the WVU Climbing Club, hosted technical workshops and competitions throughout the school year are a few of the ways Kevin is passionate about putting Mountaineers at the forefront of the regional climbing scene.
Kevin is actively involved as a professional member of the American Mountain Guide’s Association, holding certifications as a Single Pitch Instructor, a Climbing Wall Instructor Provider, and an Apprentice Rock Guide. Although rocks are his thing at WVU he is also an avid ocean-goer with a passion for coastal sea kayaking.
