Nathan Harlan is a graduate of WVU’s Recreation, Parks and Tourism Resources program and Geneva College’s Higher Education Program. Combining the fields of the outdoor education and higher education have been the focus of his professional career which has encompassed both institutions.
Nathan serves as the Director of Adventure WV, working with a team of colleagues to steer the department toward fulfillment of its mission to serve the WVU community through adventure based learning opportunities. He believes that reflection based experiential learning opportunities provide a dynamic and effective compliment to traditional learning methods. As such, his passion is to enhance WVU’s mission through creatively partnering Adventure WV’s resources and talent with departments across the institution. Nathan enjoys facilitation learning experiences through a variety of outdoor activities, but has spent the most time working within the aerial adventure industry including Challenge Courses and Zip Line installations. Nathan has been involved with the Association for Experiential Education (AEE), the Association for Challenge Course Technology, Outdoor Orientation Program Symposium (OOPS), and the Association for Outdoor Recreation and Education.
