Day of Giving

WVU's Day of Giving is Scheduled for Wednesday, March 25th.

The Adventure WV program at WVU strives to foster community, personal growth, and student success through adventure-based, experiential education. Often led by student peers, these trips offer participants diverse opportunities to meet other students, make friends, learn about themselves, and connect with WVU. 

Each year, over 8,000 participants engage in some type of Adventure WV experience. From our nationally recognized First-Year Trip program to our semester-based guided outdoor adventures, Adventure WV isn’t just about getting outside. It’s about shaping students at WVU to thrive academically, socially, and with their well-being.

The needs of college students are constantly evolving. Given Adventure WV’s proven track record with increased retention and graduation rates among participants, we are constantly striving to reduce barriers, increase accessibility, and maintain professional development for our student-staff.

  • Expand Student Accessibility
    • Adventure WV experiences lessen isolation, build community, and increase retention. Your gift will help our department strategically assist students in greatest need, maximizing the impact on their participation.
  • Enhance Well-Being
    • Donations support programs like our Well-Being Adventure Series  , which are offered at no cost and combine social connection with nature-based activities tailored to student wellness.
  • Grow Leadership Opportunities
    • Over 100 student staff each year gain professional skills guiding peers, facilitating group challenges, and designing experiences that make learning possible.

How to Get Involved:

  1. Follow Us on Social Media:
  • Day of Giving Social Prop Challenge:
    • Dates: March 16th-24th
    • Prize Amount: $500.00
    • Challenge: Take a photo or video with the Day of Giving social prop (mailed as a Day of Giving Save the Date) and share on social using #WVUDayofGiving. We’ll select one of the best posts between March 16 and March 24 to receive an extra $500 for the unit tagged.

  • WVU Gear Challenge
    • Time: All day on Wednesday, March 25 . Winners will be selected at the following times: 9 a.m. | 3 p.m. | 9 p.m.
    • Prize Amount: Three total winners of $500 each
    • Challenge: On social, post a picture of yourself, your kids and/or your pets in WVU gear and we’ll select some of the most creative to earn additional funding. Make sure to include #WVUDayofGiving and tag the specific unit you wish to support ➡️  dayofgiving.wvu.edu
    • To be eligible, users must make sure their privacy settings for the post are set to public.

  • Country Road Challenge:
    • Time: All day on Wednesday, March 25 . Winners will be selected at the following times: 1 p.m. | 7 p.m. | 11:30 p.m.
    • Prize Amount: Three total winners of $500 each
    • Challenge: “Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong…” Record a video of yourself singing or performing “Country Roads” to help your favorite unit/program and we’ll select some of most creative to earn additional funding. Make sure to include #WVUDayofGiving and tag the specific unit you wish to support ➡️ dayofgiving.wvu.edu
    • To be eligible, users must make sure their privacy settings for the post are set to public.
