Job Description:
Climbing Wall Staff help create a welcoming presence while monitoring belays or administering the front desk. Belay monitors should be prepared to manage risk in an indoor climbing environment and coach clients in techniques among other duties. Front desk administrators should be prepared to offer quality customer service, distribute and track equipment, follow record keeping procedures at the climbing wall.
Note: Climbing Wall Staff have the opportunity to work as a Belay Instructor, Aerial Silks Instructor, and Route Setter. These would be separate positions and include an increased hourly rate when working those responsibilities.
Duty and Responsibilities:

Enforcing policy and procedure

Administering belay tests

Belaying users

Managing risks in a vertical environment

Performing rescue procedures

Customer service

Inspecting equipment

Belay monitoring

Tracking and inventorying equipment

Opening and closing facility
Job Requirements:

Must be a WVU belayer or be able to pass a WVU belay test

Minimum age of 18

Demonstrated interest in climbing and/or the WVU community

Must be able to perform physical tasks requiring holding body weight

Ability to demonstrate required technical systems upon training
