In collaboration with the Brad & Alys Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative, the following Science Behind the Sport program options are perfect for middle school aged K-12 groups. Using an outdoor classroom and focusing on hands-and feet-on demonstrations, these programs actively engage participants in a variety of STEM based lessons related to each outdoor activity.
Using a few basic equations, a rider can predict their maximum velocity even before they participate. This program will help you understand the science and engineering principles related to calculating your maximum speed while riding a zip line.
This option will hoist your STEM knowledge to new heights! We cover a variety of rock climbing topics ranging from engineering concepts relate to ropes and other climbing gear to the human anatomy, geology, and everything in between.
Whether a first time rider or an elite cyclist, understanding the science behind cycling can deepen your passion for riding. This program covers the application of STEM principles based around one of the greatest inventions of all time!
The Science Behind Archery gives you the tools to take aim on learning how principles of STEM can help you hit the bullseye! Discovering the science behind bows and arrows is not only fun, it can help you improve your accuracy on the range.
