WINTER BREAK SKI CANAAN VALLEY

Canaan Valley is home to some of the most unique landscapes and natural environments in West Virginia. Beautiful mountain vistas, snow-covered forests, and plenty of recreational opportunities make this a winter paradise. Adventure West Virginia is hosting you in a cozy mountain cabin, complete with a hot tub, fire pit, and entertainment space to spend your nights making meals, playing games, and making life-long friends right at the edge of the Monongahela National Forest. Your registration comes with 2 days of skiing at Timberline Mountain Resort, one day of cross country skiing at White Grass Ski Touring Center, and opportunities to explore and shop in local hotspots, Thomas and Davis.

This trip is for all experience levels. Ski lessons are available at both Timberline and White Grass for an additional fee with the vendor at the location. AWV does not offer ski lessons or cold-weather clothing. You are welcome to bring your own ski/snowboard equipment. All AWV trips require that students meet the  Essential Eligibility Criteria.

Please note: As this is a weather-dependent activity, if conditions do not provide enough snowpack for adequate skiing, the specific itinerary may change to accommodate the conditions.

  • 2026 Length: 5 days (January 4th - 8th, 2026)
  • 2026 Cost: $575.00
    • Inclusive of all travel, ski equipment, lift tickets, lodging, and group meals. 
    • During the pre-trip meetings, ski/snowboard sizing and needs will be addressed.

We have new payment options!

  • To help provide more flexiblity, students can now elect to pay a $95.00 initial non-refundable deposit to secure their spot on trip.
  • The remaining balance can then be paid over time, alleviating the need to pay the full amount upfront.
  • Students will have the option to post their remaining balances to either their student account via a STAR Charge or opt into a periodic payment plan through our WVUGo platform.  
  • Both these options are subject to payment deadlines and other criteria.
  • Payment deadline for Canaan Valley Winter Break is Friday, December 19th.

2 Ski all day at Timberline Ski Resort (Downhill) Dinner at the cabin.
3 Ski all day at Timberline Ski Resort (Downhill). Dinner at the cabin.
4 Ski all day at White Grass Ski Center (Cross country ). Dinner at Sirianni's Café.
5 Exploring Thomas and Davis, driving back to WVU.
