Jacob Rex - Program Coordinator

PROGRAM COORDINATOR | GUIDED TRIPS

Jacob T. Rex is a native Appalachian, hailing from the mountains of East Tennessee. He received his B.S. of Media Studies at Middle Tennessee State University in 2019 and spent a gap year traveling the country, eventually visiting all 48 contiguous states. During that time he worked as a backpacking guide in the Trinity Alps, a Trek bike mechanic, and a winter as a beekeeper in Montana. In 2020 he landed at Western Kentucky University, pursuing an M.A. in Organizational Leadership while working as the the outdoor adventure G.A. and interim supervisor for the WKU Outdoor Recreation and Adventure Center. During the summer of 2021, Jacob worked as an instructor for the Voyageur Outward Bound School, leading weeks-long canoe expeditions into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

After graduating from WKU in 2022, he returned to Appalachia to begin work as an Adventure WV Program Coordinator, overseeing Guided Trips and Expeditions.

Jacob has extensive backcountry and technical field experience, totaling hundreds of days in the wilderness. He has spent time teaching and learning in outdoor spaces all across the world, including the Arctic Circle, Appalachian Trail, and over 30 National Parks. Jacob finds his passion in giving his community those same opportunities to learn in outdoor spaces.

Jacob loves expeditions and long days on the move. He follows the seasons through trail running, canoeing, bikepacking, and snowboarding. When not thrill seeking, Jacob is nose deep in a book or wrenching on a bike in his home workshop.
