Benefits:

  • Compensation: A 9-month graduate assistantship at WVU includes a stipend totaling $15,000. In addition to the stipend, a full tuition waiver and health insurance are included.

  • NOTE: Additional student fees required by the university are not covered under the tuition waiver. These fees vary by department on campus. Departments may also choose to not honor tuition waiver requests.

  • Starting Date: Prior to the start of the 2023 Fall Semester

Duty and Responsibilities

  • Manage and curate content for our department's social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Oversee student staff progress with assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the development and execution of strategic marketing campaigns to promote department events, initiatives, and achievements.
  • Create graphics for digital marketing materials, including social media posts, banners, flyers, and email newsletters.
  • Assist in the production and editing of videos to be used in marketing campaigns formats.
  • Monitor social media trends and engagement metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and implement innovative marketing ideas.
  • Coordinate and execute email marketing campaigns to engage our target audience effectively.
  • Write, edit, and publish engaging blog posts on relevant topics to showcase relevant department activities.
  • Ensure the department's website is up-to-date and visually appealing.
  • Utilize web analytics to track website performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Engage with followers, respond to inquiries, and foster positive relationships with our online community.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Enrollment in a WVU graduate program, preferrable with a focus on Marketing, Digital Media, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Basic knowledge of video production, editing and multimedia software
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different modes of content delivery (social media, blog pots, etc.)
  • Familiarity with media/content management tools (Hootsuite, Mailchimp, etc.)
  • Previous experience in blog writing or content creation for online platforms.
  • Understanding of web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and SEO principles.
  • A keen eye for detail, creativity, and a passion for creating engaging and shareable content.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem-solve, and propose creative solutions.
