Join the Adventure WV Sophomore Outdoor Adventure Reorientation in Utah!
The SOAR program is available to rising sophomores (students who have just finished their first year of college). This program allows students to de-stress and reflect on their first year while participating in exciting adventure activities in a new place!
Students will work toward forming lasting friendships and a positive community among their group. Course activities and discussions will help students learn about themselves (including personal strengths and values), increase optimism, and develop leadership and healthy living skills. Students will also learn how to anticipate and prepare for challenges specific to the sophomore year. The trip and its aspects are detailed below.
This 13-day spring adventure involves canoeing a beautiful portion of the Green River through Labyrinth Canyon, hiking the canyons in Goblin Valley State Park, exploring Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, visiting downtown Moab, Utah and soaking in Glenwood hot springs in Colorado!
Students will reunite in the fall semester for classroom meetings, focusing on trip reflections, strategies for making a successful adjustment to the sophomore year, exploring careers of interest and making connections with WVU faculty and staff that will aid students throughout their remaining college years.
Please Note: This trip is for any outdoor experience level and all Adventure WV trips require that students meet the Essential Eligibility Criteria.
